Mayor's Shield Comes Home

Sandy Gallop Golfers staged a great come from behind victory to claim the Mayor's Shield for 2012. Its been 4 years since the Gallopers have tasted success in the annual event.

The Mayor's Shield is played over 36 holes between Wolston Park Golf Club and Sandy Gallop Golf Club. Each club hosts a round of the Shield.

The first round was played at Wolston Park who took an early lead 0f 352 points to 347 points. The second round played at the Gallop saw the Gallopers give it 110% to rocket home winning the day 398 to 352 and claim the Mayor's Shield 745 points to 704 points.

Scoring is the best 10 cards from each club in each round. The event is played as a single stableford competition.

Congratulations to all who particpated and well done.

The Mayor's Shiled is on display in the Club House and will be a special trophy viewed by all visitors and players for this week's Coal City Cup.
